It is with the greatest pleasure and excitement that I<br />
welcome you to the National Symphony Orchestra’s<br />
2019–2020 season!<br />
From beginning to end, the new season promises<br />
a spectacular roster of distinguished artists and a<br />
fascinating blend of masterpieces, from classics you love<br />
to new works for you to discover.<br />
I can’t wait to reunite with some of my favorite<br />
collaborators for more memorable music-making and to<br />
embrace others I’m eager to work with for the first time.<br />
We also welcome back two former NSO Music Directors<br />
and mark 250 years since the birth of legendary composer<br />
Ludwig van Beethoven with five programs of his music.<br />
This season also marks my third as leader of the<br />
National Symphony Orchestra, a role that I continue<br />
to treasure. Today, I could not be more proud of our<br />
