It is with the greatest pleasure and excitement that I
welcome you to the National Symphony Orchestra’s
2019–2020 season!
From beginning to end, the new season promises
a spectacular roster of distinguished artists and a
fascinating blend of masterpieces, from classics you love
to new works for you to discover.
I can’t wait to reunite with some of my favorite
collaborators for more memorable music-making and to
embrace others I’m eager to work with for the first time.
We also welcome back two former NSO Music Directors
and mark 250 years since the birth of legendary composer
Ludwig van Beethoven with five programs of his music.
This season also marks my third as leader of the
National Symphony Orchestra, a role that I continue
to treasure. Today, I could not be more proud of our
