EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR COLUMN
Public input is a top priority at TxDOT
T xDOT’s customers include the people and businesses who
use and rely upon our state’s transportation system. To
a certain degree, all of our TxDOT team members are
responsible for customer service.
With this in mind, public engagement in its many
forms, when conducted with a sense of purpose, empowers
our customers to connect with TxDOT and enables us to
understand their needs and effectively serve them. Effective
public engagement promotes understanding and helps
lessen communication risks that can result in increased
costs and delays.
It is in that spirit that we called upon the public this
summer for input before the approval and adoption of a record-
breaking $104.2 billion 10-year plan for advancing projects,
