Justice for Nixson<br />
after PG coverage<br />

News International has settled its case<br />
against former Sun features editor Matt<br />
Nixson 14 months after he was sacked on<br />
the orders of News Corp's Management<br />
and Standards Committee (MSC).<br />
And Press Gazette understands<br />
that our coverage was a key factor in<br />
hastening the settlement of the case.<br />
Nixson was summarily sacked without<br />
notice pay in July 2011 prompting him<br />
to sue for unfair dismissal and to lodge a<br />
separate wrongful dismissal case against<br />
the News Corp MSC.<br />
The MSC had uncovered an email<br />
from 2009 which it believed suggested<br />
Nixson had authorised an inappropriate<br />
payment to a prison officer.<br />
The police told Nixson they were not<br />
