W hile milestones help us measure how far we've come,<br />
momentum determines how far we'll go. This year, we<br />
have the opportunity to ref lect on both.<br />
One of those milestones is the 70th anniversary of the Inter-<br />
state Highway System. This massive public investment trans-<br />
formed America by connecting communities, expanding<br />
economic opportunity and improving mobility. As we commem-<br />
orate both the 70th anniversary of the interstate system and<br />
America’s 250th birthday, we are reminded that transportation<br />
has been central to our country’s growth and prosperity.<br />
