This past April, I completed my first year as the executive director of TxDOT. With your help<br />
and support, I can say it's been a very productive and successful first year. Consider what<br />
we've accomplished together. We've made significant progress repairing roads in areas of the<br />
state that have been battered by energy- related truck traffic. We've improved the process we<br />
use to develop our Unified Transportation Program in an attempt to make it more transparent<br />
and understandable for the public.<br />
In March, the Transportation Commission awarded the first wave of projects funded in<br />
part with Proposition 1 dollars. Proposition 1 is the constitutional amendment that Texans<br />
