Fifty years ago, as President John F.<br />
Kennedy announced to the nation that<br />
America would put a man on the moon<br />
before the end of the decade, Rider<br />
University showed its own bold vision<br />
for the future by establishing roots in its<br />
new home in Lawrenceville, N.J., and<br />
by creating the new School of Liberal<br />
Arts and Sciences.<br />
At the time, no other college in the<br />
region had devoted a school specifically<br />
to the liberal arts and sciences, but<br />
President Franklin F. Moore ’27<br />
showed the foresight to address the<br />
need for programs expressly focused<br />
on these disciplines. That move, in<br />
conjunction with the establishment and<br />
reorganization of other schools within<br />
