Dear Faculty Colleagues,<br />
As we approach the start of the Spring semester, we know that<br />
your attention is focused on planning your classes and curriculum,<br />
as it should be. It is not our desire to distract you from your focus<br />
on our educational mission, but that is just what unionization<br />
threatens to do on a continuing basis. We ask, therefore, that<br />
you take some time to think about the important issue of SEIU’s<br />
efforts to unionize the full-time instructional faculty and the part-<br />
time adjunct faculty.<br />
Those of you who were not at UT back in the dark days of the mid<br />
1990’s when we were struggling with declining enrollments and<br />
red ink were spared from the open discussions about whether<br />
the university should close. We share that history to provide<br />
