Dear Friends,<br />
Can we develop a blood test to identify our risk of Alzheimer’s disease? Can we<br />
restore brain cell function after a stroke or injury? How do we combat cyber<br />
crime? At Oakland University, our expert researchers are finding the answers to<br />
these questions and more.<br />
Each year, Oakland invests more than $25 million in research. More notably, our<br />
faculty members are currently receiving record amounts of external funding to<br />
support unprecedented research and creative endeavors. Every day in our<br />
laboratories, life-changing investigations are being conducted. In this issue of<br />
OU Research you will read about some of these achievements, including the<br />
development of a complex computer-based model which will increase the<br />
