Since its launch in August 2010, Beachape-
dia, a tool that provides Surfrider Foundation
activists and coastal enthusiasts with a depth
of beach and coastal knowledge, has passed
the one million-page view mark.
The website, offers more than 500 ar-
ticles on coastal science and management
including: water quality, shoreline erosion,
beach access, surf spot protection, plastic pol-
lution and ocean ecosystems. “Beachapedia
captures decades of experience and knowl-
edge gained by Surfrider Foundation activ-
ists, scientists and staff through hundreds of
environmental and educational campaigns
on our coasts,” said Mark Rauscher, Coastal
