John Deere designs and builds its own engines, so it's logical<br />
that we know how to look after them better than anyone else.<br />
The type of oil you use can make a big difference to the per-<br />
formance of your engine and how long it lasts.<br />
Stage III B engines set new demands<br />
Tractors often work at high engine loads but low forward<br />
speeds which causes the oil to get hot. Hot oil can easily oxi-<br />
dise, increasing its viscosity and reducing engine protection<br />
and performance. This is particularly important with the intro-<br />
duction of the new Stage III B engines. These new engines are<br />
equipped with both Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and a Die-<br />
sel Particulate Filter (DPF) to reduce emissions. Components<br />
which can be easily damaged if oil oxidises at high tempera-<br />
ture.<br />
