President's
Message
After I became Westminster's 16th
president in 2002, friends from
other institutions asked what I
really thought of the college and
of Utah. I could honestly tell them
that I was thrilled with the state:
its mountains, lakes, and deserts
were spectacular; the people
were exceptionally warm and
welcoming; and I found Salt Lake
to be an increasingly diverse and
sophisticated city. I was, however,
more reserved in describing the
college: I would indicate that the
school was in good shape, but I'd
also note that it seemed to be going
through a transitional period…and I
wasn't sure where it would end up.
