President's<br />
Message<br />
After I became Westminster's 16th<br />
president in 2002, friends from<br />
other institutions asked what I<br />
really thought of the college and<br />
of Utah. I could honestly tell them<br />
that I was thrilled with the state:<br />
its mountains, lakes, and deserts<br />
were spectacular; the people<br />
were exceptionally warm and<br />
welcoming; and I found Salt Lake<br />
to be an increasingly diverse and<br />
sophisticated city. I was, however,<br />
more reserved in describing the<br />
college: I would indicate that the<br />
school was in good shape, but I'd<br />
also note that it seemed to be going<br />
through a transitional period…and I<br />
wasn't sure where it would end up.<br />
I quickly realized that the core<br />
strengths of the college were its<br />
