PIC has made a large investment to<br />
upgrade its computing hardware ca-<br />
pabilities to handle the millions of data<br />
points generated by genomics. We have<br />
implemented a new, faster, more accu-<br />
rate method of adding DNA information<br />
to the index calculation. This means a<br />
more accurate breeding value, incre-<br />
mentally faster genetic improvement,<br />
AND more predictable performance on<br />
customers’ farms.<br />

It all began with the Genetic Nucleus<br />
(GN) Xbred, giving PIC the ability to put<br />
GN animals in their working clothes and<br />
develop crossbred breeding values. This<br />
technology is allowing us to produce<br />
