50+ Years Ago: Hard Hat Tours and Other Memories<br />

In the previous issue of FriendScript, the article entitled<br />
“Friends Sport Hard Hats Once Again” was accompanied by<br />
four photographs of Friends on a recent tour of The REACH’s<br />
construction site. This led me to Curtain Up on the Friends:<br />
A History of the Friends of the Kennedy Center Volunteers to<br />
compare those photographs to the one taken during a hard hat<br />
tour in the late 1960s.<br />
I enjoyed re-reading several chapters of the book and<br />
reminiscing about the countless hours Brooks Boeke,<br />
Michele Calhoun, and I spent working on that publication.<br />
I was taken aback when I saw that the publication date was<br />
