The design transforms existing rural alpine construction techniques
into a resilient, modular and flexible core home unit. It does this by
reconfiguring common building materials into a novel structural lattice
system to counter the six typical, earthquake induced, structural fail -
ures. The precise, yet adaptable system has been developed from lo -
cal post-earthquake housing design evolution, typology research and a
constructed prototype in the Thame Valley, Nepal. The research aims
to assess and update traditional methods of construction, in order to
