2011 was another successful year for Cardiff University, set against a backdrop of immense<br />
change for UK higher education.<br />
The challenging economic environment, the introduction of new fee arrangements for<br />
undergraduates and changes in the size and structure of higher education in Wales make our<br />
continuing drive to innovate and invest all the more vital.<br />
Skilled, enthusiastic and high quality staff are our strongest asset and key to our long-term<br />
success. That’s why we’ve invested £10M in the Serious Brain Power campaign to recruit new<br />
high profile academic staff as well as gifted early career researchers.<br />
