Welcome from Jason Moran<br />
There’s a musical tribe here at the Kennedy Center—a group of jazz artists committed to celebrating the roots of<br />
our art form, expanding its ever-evolving language, and sharing its power with the next generation. Throughout<br />
our 2018–2019 season, we’ll be embracing that spirit of growth and transformation, focusing on movement,<br />
change, the journeys we take, and the places we find ourselves along the way.<br />
We’ll continue to pay tribute to icons like “Jazz King” James Reese Europe, whose early ragtime compositions<br />
ignited a fire in America; and John Coltrane, who taught a generation of musicians to trust their artistic instincts.<br />
