Welcome to Denver and<br />
the 249th ACS National<br />
Meeting. It is my pleasure<br />
to join all of you in the Mile<br />
High City, one of the most<br />
breathtaking venues for our<br />
meetings.<br />
Yesterday I kicked off<br />
the first half of one of my<br />
Presidential Symposia,<br />
‘Nanotechnology: Delivering<br />
on the Promise.’ It continues all day today in the Colo-<br />
rado Convention Center, Ballroom 3A. I hope you find<br />
time today to join and hear from these extraordinary<br />
speakers that span industry, government and academia.<br />
Following on the theme of nanotechnology, I hope you<br />
can join me tomorrow morning for another half day<br />
presidential symposium. DOE Nanoscience Research<br />
Centers: National Resources for the Nanoscience Com-<br />
munity will feature the five heads of chemistry at U.S.<br />
national laboratories. This is the first symposium of its<br />
