he Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing<br />
is the largest repository for primary and secondary source mate-<br />
rial on the history of nursing in the world. The Center holds an<br />
extensive collection of materials from 19th to late 20th century hospital-<br />
based nursing schools, visiting nurse societies, voluntary non-profit as-<br />
sociations, professional groups, as well as the personal papers of nursing<br />
leaders and practicing clinicians. In addition, the archives contain a col-<br />
