Reaching out to Houston's hungry and homeless
I recall a day, several years ago, driving in the car with my son and daughter and my
son spotting a homeless man on the side of the road. Both their hearts were driven by
compassion to help. We stopped and encouraged the man to seek help at the Star of
Hope. I learned some critical lessons from my children that day.
When we left home, I was on a mission to check a few things oﬀ my to-do list. But
through my children God showed me that taking a detour for someone in need
actually WAS my mission.
Jesus often dropped everything to help others. In John 4, he was heading to Galilee.
