EMS is dispatched to the scene of hit-and-run accident in
which a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling
approximately 40 miles per hour on a busy city street.
EMS providers arrived to find an approximately 30-year-
old male lying unresponsive on the sidewalk. Bystanders
reported they saw the patient running out into the street
about 200 feet behind where EMS encountered the
patient. They witnessed a vehicle strike the patient, briefly
stop, and then speed off.
Upon their initial assessment of the patient, paramedics
