In 1984, the NFL Players Association
(NFLPA) established the Former Player
Services Department (FPSD) to provide
an active voice within the organization for
all former professional football players.
Today, former players have a full-time
staff at the NFLPA dedicated to their
services, needs and issues.
The mission of the NFLPA Former Player Services Department is to assist former NFL players in
their transition from the playing field into life after the game, improve their quality of life and help
them to positively impact the communities in which they live.
