2 WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY <br />
Simply put, the West Virginia University rifle team is the<br />
most accomplished collegiate squad. With 14 national<br />
championships to their name, the most recent captured<br />
three years ago in 2009, the Mountaineers set the nation-<br />
wide standard for sustained success.<br />
Seventh-year WVU coach Jon Hammond, himself a former<br />
Mountaineer shooter, has resurrected the program after a<br />
brief absence on the national scene and led the Mountaineers<br />
to five straight national championships, one NCAA team<br />
title, two NCAA air rifle titles and three consecutive Great<br />
American Rifle Conference (GARC) titles. Along the way,<br />
Hammond has recruited some of the world’s top talent,<br />
producing 43 National Rifle Association All-Americans.<br />
