my father was one of the founders of Katahdin<br />
Cedar Log Homes in 1973. When he hired me in<br />
1977, I became his eighth employee.<br />
In those days, we did much of the hard work of turning<br />
northern white cedar logs into log homes by hand.<br />
The work kept us warm in winter, and we’d work up<br />
a good sweat in summer. But I got to know the business<br />
of manufacturing log homes from the inside out, log<br />
by log and piece by piece. The year I started, we<br />
manufactured just two homes.<br />
We were proud of those two homes. We knew they<br />
were destined to be good, solid, well-made homes for<br />
people who would love them, because we made them<br />
to be the very best they could be.<br />
These days, we’re a lot bigger than we used to be.<br />
