Unique study abroad opportunity for incoming UT freshmen • Focus on sustainability and environmental politics
UT has partnered with Costa Rica’s renowned Monteverde
Institute to offer a unique, international curriculum pairing
environmental politics, conservation, sustainability and biological
diversity. An elite group of students with varied academic
interests will be selected to attend a two-week travel program in
Costa Rica during the summer of 2019.
Led by UT biology professor Mason Meers and government and
world affairs professor Kevin Fridy, students will learn through
a combination of lectures, discussions, meetings with local
groups and observational studies. In the wake of the U.N. Climate
Change Conference and landmark Paris Agreement, students will
gain valuable real-world Spartans Academy Abroad in Costa Rica
