With distrust from users and caution from operators, what<br />
can be done to fully utilize the potential of our VMS?<br />
“The UK has already made great progress in this<br />
arena. Today, when interviewing traffic managers,<br />
VMS vendors and motorists on our side of the<br />
pond, you don’t hear the anecdotes of out-of-date or wildly<br />
inaccurate messages on VMS that you did 10 years ago. It<br />
seems that in the USA, however, that the situation is not as progressive.<br />
In a litigious environment, operators are fearful of giving information<br />
such as alternate routes in case it comes back to bite them on the ‘ass’<br />
