Sooner or later, everyone needs someone's help.
Right now, in Houston, there is an unprecedented challenge confronting the
city as thousands of homeless women and families struggle to survive. They
are the new, often hidden, homeless — mostly moms and their little ones—the
fastest growing group within the homeless community, locally and nationally.
They are exhausted from the indignities of existing along the outer reaches of
society. They are helpless and hopeless. Sadly, in Houston, as in most large
cities, they also endure a cruel irony. There are several shelters and long-term
options for women and families,
yet not nearly enough of them
