Christmas” for the 1942 film Holiday
Inn. Starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire
the film focuses on Crosby’s character, a
showman who retires from the business
and retreats to a New England farm after
being dumped by his girlfriend. Crosby’s
idea is to turn the farm into an inn open
only on holidays—a song for every holiday
and a holiday for every song. Former
song-and-dance partner Astaire shows up
with a scheme to make a movie at the farm
to showcase a newfound talent played by
Marjorie Reynolds.
