When it Comes to Long-term Maintenance,<br />
Precast Cells are Superior<br />
In my experience, precast modular prison cells provide signi cant<br />
maintenance advantages when compared to other forms of construction. Other<br />
forms of construction such as steel require signi cant welding or cutting to<br />
modify and repair the cell. is requires the use of “Class A” tools as well<br />
as exhaust fans and removal of the occupants to perform the repair activity.<br />
Concrete is much easier to work with and can be shaped and formed much<br />
more e ectively than steel. Precast cells also provide an advantage in wet<br />
locations because the concrete is not adversely a ected by exposure to water<br />
