From humble pie to
outrage for Murdoch
DOMINIC PONSFORD
When Rupert Murdoch apologised for
phone-hacking at the News of the World
he described it has the most humble day
of his life.
The transcript of a meeting between
the News Corp chairman and around 20
arrested Sun journalists reveals that when
it comes to the UK's best-selling daily, he
takes a more combative attitude.
The meeting took place in March and is
understood to have been taped by several
sources.
Transcripts of it were circulated to
lawyers in the weeks after it but details
only emerged publicly three weeks ago
in Private Eye. Investigative journalism
website Exaro then published a full
transcript of the meeting and an audio
extract this week.
